A design for an urban garden on a great plot that had privacy and some established specimen shrubs to work with to help add instant maturity to the new garden. The garden had become overgrown and pink block paving made the outdoor space feel dated. A strong angular deck was designed to sit at the back of the house to provide a dining area and graduate what was quite a steep step down into the garden from the house. The mature plants were retained and used as a back drop to a curved timber bench for chilling out and making the most of the private corner with a fire pit at night or catching the last of the evening sun when the client wants to relax after work. Low maintenance ground cover, structural evergreens and spring bulbs have been used in manageable borders designed to provide low maintenance planting with year round interest.
